This is an activity for those who want to try driving on ice, but aren’t bothered about driving the latest models. Here you’ll experience the thrill of driving in cars outfitted like an ice-racing car, with spiked tyres and all the necessary safety equipment, such as roll cages and four-point belts.
Helmets are of course required and the cars available for rent are Volvos and BMW 3-series.
Along the two ice tracks – 1,600 and 1,300 metres long – you’ll be able to try your hand at driving really fast, drifting through the curvier parts of the track. If you’d like you can also run a couple of racing heats.
You’ll be able practise and get some tips on how to become a better driver as well, since the owner of the tracks, Stefan Hallnor, has many years’ worth of experience from the automotive and motorsports industry.
Lippi Ice Driving is located along the Silver Road, Route 95, six kilometres west of Arjeplog.
Fasten the four-point belt, put the helmet on and then just put the pedal to the metal!
This, I think, is the best fun you can have with your clothes on in the world. I don’t think I could enjoy it more, says Ian Jarvis, journalist at Cotswold Life magazine.
