Miekak is located 50 km north of the Arctic Circle. This is roadless country, which means you get there by helicopter, snowmobile, skiing or hiking. Once you arrive, you’re right in the middle of pure nature. Untouched. Undisguised. Real.
What your stay in the wild, and what andventures it holds, is up to you, but Miekak is well known for its rich hunting grounds and fishing waters. Many also come for the tranquility and to charge their batteries by the mountains and the streaming waters. It is said that those who have once been “bitten” by Miekak, and its special atmosphere, will always long to get back for another visit.
Many come for the fishing, and undoubtedly this is one of the very best places in the country when it comes to Arctic char and trout. But hunters and hikers also come here, as well as those looking for tranquility or those eager to discover the unique animal- and plant life.
Miekak is run by the helicopter company Heli, who can assist with both delivery of supplies, transfer to and from Miekak or day trips out even further into the wild. Or why not let them arrange a conference event that takes your business to new heights.
The camp has 25 cabins and every 4-bed cottage includes a boat to be used as you wish. There are also cabins by Storselet, Njargalis and other mountain lakes.
At the campsite there is also a small shop with a basic range of supplies all year round. The shelves are a bit better stocked in high season, between July and September. There is also a kåta (Sámi style tipi) for barbeques, and a larger cabin with conference or food service possibilities.
