An afternoon dedicated to the Arjeplog native Israel Ruong (b. 1906). ISOF is now making his archive available through a new website.

• 13:10–13:25 Urban Ruong talks about his uncle
• 13:25–13:50 Madelen Johansson, Umeå University, about her research on Israel Ruong
• 13:50–14:15 Marlene Hugoson, ISOF, presents and demonstrates the website
• 14:15–14:45 Coffee break
• 14:45–15:00 Peter Steggo on Israel Ruong’s importance for the language
• 15:00–15:20 Lars-Anders Baer on Israel Ruong’s life’s work
• 15:20–15:35 Joint discussion about Israel Ruong
• 15:35–16:00 Viewing of a mini-exhibition in Östan (based on material from the website)

Evening Activities

18:00–19:15: Mittpunkt game night at Loftet at Lyktan
For grades 4–6. Entrance from the pedestrian and bicycle path on Silvervägen.

18:30–19:30: Walking football with an 80s theme!
PRO vs. Municipal Employees. PRO sells refreshments.

10:00: Book release – “Tiga är guld” (Silence Is Golden)
Malin Westling presents her new relationship novel. The novel explores themes such as grief, guilt, forgiveness, and the courage to stand up for the truth—even when it may cost everything.
Free admission.

11:00: Curious about: The Rest Cabin by the Norwegian Border
Peter Uven and Malin Brännström talk about the legendary cabin.

13:00: Those Who Lived on the Parish’s Mercy
Carl-Oskar Lundström talks about poor relief and the poor in Arjeplog.

14:00: Opening: Paulus Utsi (1918–1975)
Kristina Utsi talks about the prominent Sámi poet.

Outdoors at Barkudden / the Town Square

11:00 – 13:00: Sleigh ride behind a reindeer
Free for children and youth.

10:00 – 12:00: Sámi questions by the fire
Come and talk with the municipality’s Sámi coordinator by a cozy fire in a lavvu tent at the square.

12:00: Reindeer caravan / Rájjdo
A reindeer caravan through the market.
Start at Barkudden behind the Silver Museum.
Sara Unnes and Nina Fjellman lead the caravan.
Organizer: Arjeplog Municipality.

Food & Music

11:00 – 14:00: Soup lunch & flea market
Fish soup / meat soup at Kyrkströmsgården.
All proceeds go to Act Svenska Kyrkan.

16:00: Concert with the Sorsele Fiddlers
Location: Arjeplog Church.
