Ideas on what to do in Arjeplog during summer!
”There is so much you can do! Play beach volleyball on the sandy beach in Nåtti; head out on Lake Hornavan under the midnight sun, or why not rent a sauna raft? My best tip it to simply get out there. Find your adventure! A lot can happen if you go to Åsarna for a barbecue in the evening. If you want to try something a little further away I’d recommend a short trip to the Jourun Valley, at the Norwegian border. Autumn is particularly beautiful there. Make sure you make a stop in Vuoggatjålme for a tasty meal.

”As a bathing enthusiast I can really recommend going for a swim in all the lakes! It’s a great experience to arrive at Hornavan Hotel on a summer’s night, discovering the view of the lake from your hotel room. My first swim was in Skeppsviken, just outside the hotel. Then I went for another swim in Uddjaure, after cloudberry picking. But the most exotic experience, and a place I’d really like to recommend, is the Salajekna glacier. I went there on a sunny day and we walked around looking at the fascinating ice formations. The obvious end to our visit was of course a cool bath in Issjön (the Ice Lake). Being able to hike, bike and swim in the mountains gives you so much positive energy – it’s pure rejuvenation!”

”On a warm summer’s day you can take a boat to the Yraf Delta and anchor by the long sandy beach. Then take some brave steps into the crystal-clear river flowing past, and swim against the current. All around you is the beautiful mountain world. It’s a health spa that fills your body and soul! Another idea is to rent a canoe and go paddling upstream in the Lais River, going ashore wherever looks inviting. Put your tent up and then just stay there fishing all night long!”
Marianne Thorfve, who runs the general store, café, holiday village and other rentals in the mountain village Adolfström.
”One of my tips for summer is taking the beautiful road up to Gautosjö and Adolfström. Visit Marianne Thorfve’s general store in Adolfström, then take a boat tour through the Yraf Delta to Bäverholm. Walk along the King’s Trail for a while and enjoy a picnic by the Lais River, or have a bite to eat at the Inn in Bäverholmen before a boat tour takes you back”.

”When I have visitors I always take them to Galtis first to see the view. It’s 8 km from Arjeplog. It’s unbeatable! Then I suggest a boat trip to a small island on Lake Uddjaure. Once we’re there we have some fresh perch – caught by ourselves of course. I bring marinated elk meat as well, just in case. We’d bring a tent and sleeping bags as well, hoping everyone will want to spend the night.”
