About the mountain anemone:
Carl Linnaeus wrote in 1755: “Grows generally in the mountains of Lapland. The leaves are depicted pointed by most people, as they are instead highly blunt and almost urniped. The evergreen, beautiful plant is the most comprehensive of the mountain plants with its snow-white flowers.” (…) “I have called this plant Dryas after the Dryads, the deities living in oaks, because the leaves showed a certain resemblance to oak leaves,” Linnaeus wrote in 1737 in Flora Lapponica (Swedish translation by T. M. Fries (1905).
The mountain anemone is the provincial flower of Lapland.
